Personalized Support for Families and Children

Orton-Gillingham Reading Instruction and Dyslexia Therapy

Orton-Gillingham is a multisensory, structured, phonics-based reading and spelling methodology that has helped millions of young learners blossom into fluent, joyful readers.

Decades of research has shown that the Orton-Gillingham approach helps to create new neural pathways in struggling readers, particularly those with dyslexia. As an Orton-Gillingham teacher, I work one-on-one with children who are having difficulty developing literacy skills in a traditional school environment, or who have received a dyslexia diagnosis. Together, we leverage visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities to “rewire” the language centers of the brain to connect printed text, spoken letters and words, and text meaning.

To ensure long-lasting success, I provide reading instruction 2–3 times per week. I meet with children on school grounds, at clients’ homes, as well as at libraries and other community meeting spaces. I will never assign homework, nor will I expect you to take action between lessons, because I know it is crucial for your child to use out-of-school hours to learn, play, rest, and explore.

Special Education Consulting

Securing an evaluation, diagnosis, and personalized support plan for your child is not an intuitive or simple undertaking.

If you don’t know your options for in-school and out-of-school support, then you don’t know what questions to ask to best support your child—and you don’t know the “magic words” that can make a world of difference. However, when you are knowledgeable about the process, use informed language, and arrive prepared for meetings, you may open the door for your child to receive critical services that will transform the learning experience.

From requesting and preparing for an initial evaluation to telling a compelling story about your child’s unique strengths and needs, I serve as an experienced advisor who can give you voice and agency in a process that often feels convoluted and intimidating. I bridge the gaps between school staff, private evaluators, and support providers, and can connect you to a network of professionals who specialize in delivering the targeted interventions your child needs.
